Seasonal Tips

Okay,  It's May 29th and Spring has been here for only 2 weeks.  We can feel it here at the Garden Center as we have been busy.

Let's get back to Vegtable and Fruit Gardening.  If you have already gotten in your seeds and veggies good for you.  If not DO SO NOW.  It is time.  There are a couple of things that you should be aware of.  One is bloom rot on tomatos.  Something you can do for them is Yeild Booster by the Ferti-lome Co.  You start spraying the tomatos as soon as you see them.  Just after the bloom.  You spray the foliage and fruit.  Spray in the morning or evening when it is cooler.  This will stop sun damage to the leaves.  Spray every 10 days as long as the plant is fruiting. Try it.

Another problem I hear about are vine vegtables rotting.   Two things can be occuring.  One is bugs and the other would be disease.  You can use Dragoon Dust with Copper by the Bonide Co., is great for these two things.  You can use it up to once a week.    The plants need to be at a maturing level.  Two weeks into the ground.  I would prefer to us this product as a dust.  You can apply within 4 days of Harvest.

One other product I want to put in a word for is organic.  It is called Veggie Pharm.  It is made of Gralic and 100% organic Peppermint Oil.  It comes ready to use and is good for MItes, Beetles, Hort Fungus and Garden Insects. If your into Organics you might want to try this out.  For best results apply at Dusk and water in the am.  Use freely until harvest.

You want to make sure you are watering regulary, but not to often.  In another couple weeks I would be fertilizing again.  Remember when you use any kind of Insecticide or Dust you make sure to read the directions.  Follow them to the t and take care not get these products in your eyes, mouth or on your skin.

I will be back at it in a couple weeks so check it out. Thanks for reading  Erin Arnett
